I’m Jamie Botting, founder and director of HomeGuard. It all began when I was fourteen and started clearing construction sites for my brother’s building company. I quickly learnt the ropes, and over the next two decades, I became experienced in brickwork, roofing, groundwork, and plastering—and that’s just for starters. Howe

I’m Jamie Botting, founder and director of HomeGuard. It all began when I was fourteen and started clearing construction sites for my brother’s building company. I quickly learnt the ropes, and over the next two decades, I became experienced in brickwork, roofing, groundwork, and plastering—and that’s just for starters. However, my passion has always been protecting others, and so, in 2010, I joined Kent Police as a constable. Working as both a builder and police officer simultaneously allowed me to witness both sides of the industry and the aftermath that rogue traders left in their wake. I helped countless families who had been scammed, lost their life savings, had their homes left incomplete or unsafe, and had been left to pick up the pieces.
As a human being who genuinely cares about the well-being of others, seeing the devastating impact on people’s lives made me realise things needed to change. I had to do something. And so, HomeGuard was born.
